Bulldogs play at Perk on Sunday

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast is back at Ken "Curly" Farris Field for a weekend doubleheader against Illinois Central.

The Bulldogs and Cougars will start Sunday at 2 p.m. The games will be streamed at https://mgcccbulldogs.com/watch.

Illinois Central is playing Baton Rouge and Jones on Friday in Ellisville, then a doubleheader at Pearl River on Saturday.

  • MGCCC: 4-6
  • ICC: 1-2 (before Friday and Saturday games)

Last Time Out

  • MGCCC lost a pair of games in Raymond on Tuesday, falling 12-11 to Hinds and 10-6 to Itawamba.
  • Illinois Central lost 2-1 and 6-3 at Northwest Mississippi last weekend before winning the third game 14-2.

Previous Meeting

On February, 29, 2020, Gulf Coast swept Illinois Central 5-3 and 5-2 at Perk.

Notes

  • Illinois Central was the first-ever opponent in the new stadium at Ken "Curly" Farris Field. Gulf Coast won the opener 1-0 before falling 3-0 on March 4, 2017.
  • Gulf Coast is 7-1 against Illinois Central since 2014. All the games have been played at Perk, but the teams haven't met since 2020.
  • Illinois Central plays its home games at Thome Field, named after Baseball Hall of Famer Jim Thome. He played for the Cougars in 1989 before hitting 612 home runs in the majors.
