Bulldogs swept by No. 9 Jones

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast lost twice to No. 9 Jones on Wednesday at Ken "Curly" Farris Field.

The Bulldogs fell 17-4 in seven innings in Game 1 and lost the nightcap 12-0 to the MACCC leaders.

Sean Smith (So., Pascagoula/Pascagoula) hit two home runs in the first game to give him 12 on the season. That ties him for second in the NJCAA, four behind teammate Charlie Keller (Fr., Mobile, Ala./Mobile Christian). Smith finished with three hits, and Sam Mansell (So., Laurel/Northeast Jones) had two.

The Bulldogs managed only three hits in the second game.

Gulf Coast falls to 13-17 overall, 6-6 in MACCC play.

Jones is now 26-6, 11-1.

Gulf Coast will be back at Perk on Saturday when East Mississippi visits. The games will be streamed at https://mgcccbulldogs.com/watch. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
