Bulldogs celebrate Sophomore Day on Saturday

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's baseball team will celebrate Sophomore Day on Saturday when Northwest Mississippi visits.

First pitch in the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. The games will be streamed at https://mgcccbulldogs.com/watch.

Gulf Coast will honor its sophomores between games of the doubleheader, including the presentation of the Randy Rouse Award. It honors Rouse, a Gulf Coast baseball player who died of leukemia in 1992. The award is voted on by the team and is given to the sophomore who best exemplifies sportsmanship, unselfishness, and loyalty.

The Bulldogs face a must-win situation to get back into the playoff picture. Gulf Coast is 11th in the standings, with the top nine times advancing to the postseason. Northwest occupies that last spot headed into the last three conference doubleheaders.
