Bulldogs lose twice at home

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast lost twice to Hinds at Ken "Curly" Farris Field in MACCC baseball action Tuesday.

The Eagles won the first game 10-6 and the second 9-5.

Marc Stephens (Fr., Orange Beach, Ala./Gulf Shores) had a seventh-inning grand slam in the first game to get Gulf Coast back in the game, but the Bulldogs couldn't finish the comeback.

DJ Walker (So., Brandon/Brandon) had a solo homer in the second.

Stevens, Walker, Kade Carpenter (So., Vancleave/Vancleave) and Sam Mansell (So., Laurel/Northeast Jones) had two hits each for Gulf Coast.

Ty Mancha (Fr., Albuquerque, N.M./Mobile Christian) was the only Bulldog with two hits in Game 2. Gulf Coast (16-24, 9-13 MACCC) had nine hits, all singles.

Hinds improved to 22-19, 10-10 and moved past the Bulldogs in the standings.

Gulf Coast will celebrate Sophomore Day on Saturday when Northwest Mississippi visits Perkinston. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
