Bulldogs’ season ends in Booneville

Mississippi Gulf Coast's baseball season came to an end Friday after getting swept on the road by Northeast Mississippi.

The Bulldogs lost 9-2 and 8-6 in Booneville, missing out on the playoffs by a game after East Mississippi earned a split at East Central.

Gulf Coast nearly staged a late comeback in the second game. Down 8-2 in their final at-bat, Sean Smith (So., Pascagoula/Pascagoula) and Jayden Mark (Fr., Petal/Petal) hit two-run home runs with nobody out. Ty Mancha (Fr., Albuquerque, N.M./Mobile Christian) walked, but the Bulldogs couldn't get anything else to happen.

Mark had three RBI, and Smith and Amiri Williams (Fr., Long Beach/Long Beach) had two hits. Smith also doubled.

Mark had two hits in the opener, half the Bulldogs' total. Smith homered in that game, as well, and finished the season with 15.

Gulf Coast ends the season 18-28 overall, 11-17 in the MACCC.
