Bulldogs drop a pair at home

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast dropped a pair of non-conference games Tuesday at Ken "Curly" Farris Field.

The Bulldogs lost the first game 12-7 to No. 9 Meridian, then fell 4-1 to Holmes in the nightcap.

DJ Walker (So., Brandon/Brandon) went 3-for-4 in the opener with a solo home run in the seventh inning. Marc Stephens (Fr., Orange Beach, Ala./Gulf Shores) had two hits, and Charlie Olsen (Fr., Gulfport/Gulfport) doubled.

Holmes scored four runs without a hit in the fifth inning. Gulf Coast managed only three hits. Charlie Keller (Fr., Mobile, Ala./Mobile Christian) hit a solo homer in the seventh inning, his 10th to tie for the national and team lead with Sean Smith (So., Pascagoula/Pascagoula).

Jayden Mark (Fr., Petal/Petal) doubled later in the inning.
