Bulldogs can’t complete comeback at Delta

Mississippi Gulf Coast nearly erased a 20-plus point deficit in the second half, but the Bulldogs couldn't complete the comeback in an 84-76 loss to Mississippi Delta in Moorhead.

Kaue Kalinowski (So., Curitiba, Brazil/Divine Savior) scored 21 of his 24 points after halftime, but it wasn't enough.

The Bulldogs trailed by 21 points at halftime, and the margin was back to that point well into the second half. They started getting turnovers and easy buckets off their press, and Aujaylen Barron (Fr., Gulfport/Harrison Central) scored a four-play play in the final five minutes to get the Bulldogs within 74-71.

Gulf Coast (11-7, 1-3 MACCC) wouldn't get any closer against the Trojans (8-9, 1-3).

Jabbari Barry (So., Lake Charles, La./Barbe) had 15 points, and Za'Kariyea Hamilton (Fr., Jackson/Clinton) scored 12. Larry Lee (So., Utica/Raymond) chipped in 10.

Gulf Coast is back at Dantzler Arena on Monday when Northeast Mississippi visits. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
