Cold spell leads to Gulf Coast loss

PERKINSTON — A late scoring drought doomed Mississippi Gulf Coast on Monday night. The Bulldogs went on to lose 83-75 to Hinds at Dantzler Arena.

Gulf Coast tied it at 64 on a 3-pointer by Jabbari Barry with 7:26 left, then went 3:31 without a score to fall behind by six. The Bulldogs never got closer than 4 again.

Kaue Kalinowski (So., Curitiba, Brazil/Divine Savior) led Gulf Coast with 20 points. Barry (So., Lake Charles, La./Barbe) had 19 points.

Gulf Coast (14-9, 4-5 MACCC) used a 13-6 run to close the first half and get to within 44-42. Hinds (12-12, 5-4) led by eight with 13:02 to play before the Bulldogs began chipping away.

Thomas Tangle (So., Standing Pine/Choctaw Central) had a big 3-pointer and a layup in the run.

Gulf Coast hits the road Thursday and plays at Itawamba. Tipoff in Fulton is set for 7:30 p.m.
