Kent, Wilkinson named Bulldogs of the Week

PERKINSTON — Kasey Kent and Chase Wilkinson have been named Bulldogs of the Week for April 26-May 2.

Kent, a freshman from Ridgeland, picked up two wins at the NJCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship in Mesa, Ariz. She won her singles match over Paradise Valley's Krystel Quintero 6-1, 7-5 in No. 2 singles, and teamed with Krissy Georgieva to beat Paradise Valley's Quintero and Noelani Lui 0-6, 6-4, 6-4. 

Wilkinson, a freshman from Madison, finished tied for first after 36 holes to help lead No. 4 Mississippi Gulf Coast to the NJCAA District D title. He shot 6-over, and the Bulldogs won their 12th district/region title in 13 years.

Also nominated:

Hannah Salter, a freshman from Olive Branch, had two goals and two assists for Gulf Coast in a 1-0-1 week. She had an assist in a 2-2 tie at Pearl River and scored twice with an assist in a 5-0 blanking of Meridian.

Skyler Steede, a sophomore from Lucedale, combined for a shutout in a 5-0 win at Meridian and made seven saves in a 2-2 tie at Pearl River.

Dawson Flowers, a freshman from Brookhaven, threw a three-hitter to beat No. 19 East Central 7-2. He struck out eight and walked three. Flowers also pitched the ninth inning in a loss at Delta.

Dawson Walters, a freshman from Flora, had seven hits in Gulf Coast's final conference doubleheader and batted .667 for the week. He had a double in both games against Delta, with three hits in the first game and four in the second on the way to five RBI on the day. He also had two hits, including a triple, in a 7-2 win over No. 19 East Central. 

Christian Inchima, a sophomore from Brampton, Ontario, scored both goals for No. 10 Gulf Coast in a 2-0 win at No. 6 Pearl River. He also picked up an assist in a 2-0 win at Meridian.

Isaiah Gore, a sophomore from Laurel, made an array of spectacular saves for No. 10 Gulf Coast in a shutout at No. 6 Pearl River. He had nine saves in a 2-0 at Poplarville and blanked Meridian for his 80 minutes in a combined 2-0 shutout.
