MGCCC Women fall to Co-Lin

PERKINSTON — No. 13 Mississippi Gulf Coast lost its top player minutes before the start of a Friday showdown with No. 19 Copiah-Lincoln, and the Wolves proved too much.

The Bulldogs lost 9-0, falling to 12-2 overall, 9-2 in MACCC play.

Tia Topps (So., Grenada/Grenada) and Ashley Chelette (Fr., Vancleave/Vancleave) battled to third sets while playing a match higher than they expected to at the start of the day. Topps lost 2-6, 6-0, 11-9 at No. 4 singles, and Chelette lost 4-6, 6-2, 10-2 at No. 5

Gulf Coast will get back on the court Wednesday with a match at Southwest Mississippi. First serves at Summit will be at 1 p.m.
