No. 13 Gulf Coast steamrolls Southwest

No. 13 Mississippi Gulf Coast got back on the winning track Monday, pounding Southwest 8-1 at Summit.

The Bulldogs didn't drop a set, losing only two games in three doubles matches. Kaylen Bond (So., Stone/Perkinston) won her No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-0, as did Tia Topps (So., Grenada/Grenada) at No. 5.

Krissy Georgieva (So., Epsom and Ewell High School/Sutton, England) and Kasey Kent (Fr., Ridgeland/Ridgeland) won No. 1 singles 8-0, and Ashley Chelette (Fr., Vancleave/Vancleave) and Tia Topps (So., Grenada/Grenada) did the same at No. 3 doubles.

Gulf Coast (13-2) has dropped only two matches in MACCC play. The Bulldogs are second in the conference with a 10-2 mark, with two matches left in the regular season. There's a postponed home match against Itawamba still to be rescheduled, plus a match at Jones on Feb. 9
