Golf moves up to 6th at MGCCC Invitational

GULFPORT---Darton College fired a 1-over 289 in the final round of the MGCCC Fall Invitational Intercollegiate to overtake 1st Round leaders Spring Hill and Central Alabama.  Darton (GA) shot 294-289—583 to beat Wallace State (AL) by 6 shots.  Spring Hill College 592 was 3rd, followed by University of Mobile 594, Central Alabama 596, Mississippi Gulf Coast 597, Faulkner State CC 598, Rend Lake (IL) and Copiah-Lincoln 611, Andrew (GA) 614, East Mississippi 623, Loyola New Orleans 639 and East Central 642.  
        Sheldon Statkewicz of Spring Hill won the individual title with rounds of 66-75—141.  Darton's Seth Sanders 143 was runner-up, followed by University of Mobile's Josh Brooks 144.  MGCCC's Grant Motter, Copiah-Lincoln's Ryan Desormeaux, Andrew's Andreas Tancred, Faulkner State's Zachary Dittmer and Central Alabama's Cody O'Toole finished 4th at 1-over 145.  Statkewicz, Sanders, Brooks, Motter, Desormeaux and Tancred were named to the All-Tournament Team.  
        Gulf Coast's scores included Danny De Los Santos 146, Conner Entriken 148, Phillip Hickam and George Kawell 154, Tyler Schingle 155, Fant Carpenter 158, Thomas Miles 160, Michael Hendrickson 161, Jesse Sunderman 167, Bryce Jackson 168, Alex Deville and Brandon Robertson 173, Noah Ahlers 174 and Hunter Holcomb 175.  Gulf Coast heads to Meridian October 20-21 for the Lou Hart Invitational.
