MGCCC’s Entriken, Jackson and Holcomb sign with William Carey

PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College golfers Conner Entriken, Bryce Jackson and Hunter Holcomb have signed scholarships to play golf at William Carey University. The three signed to play for Jeff Mixon's NAIA team.

"I expect all three to make a positive impact on the William Carey golf program," Gulf Coast coach Tommy Snell said. "They'll be very competitive up there."

Entriken, a sophomore from Kiln and Hancock High School, has the third-lowest average score in MACJC play this season at 74.17. He has made three all-tournament teams and has made all A's and B's at MGCCC. In high school, Entriken played in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star High School Basketball game, was a two-time selectee for the South Mississippi All-Star Basketball Showcase, was medalist in Class 6A district tournament his senior year and graduated with honors. He is the son of Mike and Natalie Entriken.

"Connor was the guy that signed a basketball scholarship to Spring Hill, but he decided he wanted to play golf," Snell said. "He came here about two weeks into the freshman year and he steadily improved his game. He's really a talented athlete and a hard worker. He'd be good at whatever sport he played."

Jackson, a sophomore from Hurley and East Central High School, has the 10th-lowest average score in MACJC plays this season at 76.25. In high school, he graduated with honors, won the St. Patrick Invitational and started playing on the varsity in seventh grade. He is the son of Terry and Sharon Jackson and Amanda Jackson.

"Bryce is loaded with talent," Snell said. "He matured on the golf course, and he's really starting to come into his own. He can really shoot some low numbers and hits the ball a long way. He's got all the tools."

Holcomb, a sophomore from Purvis and Purvis High School, made the All-Tournament team at the Eagle Ridge tournament and has made all A's and B's at MGCCC. He is the son of Art and Barbara Holcomb.

"Hunter was a baseball player all his life, but he decided he wanted to play golf after attending USM for a year," Snell said. "He gave up baseball and started working on his golf game. He's really improved. He's a really hard worker."
