Golf team currently ranked 3rd in the Nation by Golfstat.com

The MGCCC Golf team currently ranked 3rd in the Nation by Golfstat.com and the Golfweek Coaches' Poll will compete in five conference tournaments this spring, including the opener hosted by MGCCC February 8-9 at Grand Bear GC and Pine Burr CC.  The MACJC Conference/State Championship hosted by East MS Community College is scheduled for April 18-19 at Lion Hills Golf Club in Columbus, MS.  Jones Junior College will host the NJCAA Region XXIII Championship April 26-27 at Laurel CC.

NJCAA All-American Fant Carpenter returns to a lineup that includes 2014 MACJC Conference and Region XXIII Individual champion Danny De Los Santos, ranked in the Top 10 by both polls.  Freshmen Grant Motter, No 1 ranked player in the MACJC and No 2 in the nation, complements a strong contingent of sophomores returning from the 2014 NJCAA Region XXIII Championship team.

The Gulf Coast Bulldogs will also compete in two nationally recognized invitationals this spring, the Elizabeth Kling Memorial hosted by Faulkner State CC and the Goose Pond Spring Fling in Scottsboro, AL hosted by Illinois Central CC.  The Spring Fling billboards as a preview event since the NJCAA D-II National Golf Championship will be held there in May.

Although Gulf Coast graduated three outstanding players in 2014, Coach Snell believes the 2015 team is the most talented team he has ever coached.  Hayes Weathersby (USM), Jake Pritchard (Louisiana Tech) and Adam Ham (William Carey) helped the 2014 team reach national prominence with a 3rd place finish at the NJCAA D-II National Golf Championship, and Coach Snell is hoping for another national trophy for the team's new locker room that overlooks the team's driving range.

"This team could certainly win it all if they keep working hard and stay focused," said Coach Tommy  Snell.
