MGCCC golf wins first MACJC Golf Tournament of season

Gulf Coast shot 293-294--587 to capture the first MACJC Conference Golf Tournament of the season by 19 shots over Co-Lin 606.  Meridian was third at 610, followed by East Mississippi 624, Hinds 627, Northeast 629, ECCC 631, Northwest 634, Itawamba 664 and Jones 704.  MGCCC led by four strokes after Rd 1 at Grand Bear and added to their lead by posting a 6-over effort at Pine Burr Country Club.  

Grant Motter had a tap-in eagle on the last hole after a brilliant second shot on the par-5 18th, overtaking teammate Conner Entriken and Co-Lin's Jacob Ross by one shot after rounds of 71-71--142.  Entriken shot 72-71--143 while Ross followed a sparkling 68 in Rd 1 with a 75 on Monday.  All three were named to the All-Tournament Team along with Co-Lin's Ryan Desormeaux and Meridian's Connor Cavin.  

Gulf Coast heads to the Elizabeth Kling Memorial Invitational at Rock Creek in Fairhope, AL February 21-22 and will continue MACJC play at Eagle Ridge and Wolf Hollow on February 28 and March 1.
