PERKINSTON — For the third time this season, Mississippi Gulf Coast dropped an overtime game on a set piece Tuesday. Jones nipped the Bulldogs 2-1 on a 96th-minute goal.
The Bulldogs (8-4, 2-3 MACJC South) saw a five-game win streak stopped after battling back from a one-goal deficit. James Redmond (Fr., Oberschule Roter Sand/Bremen, Germany) scored in the 61st minute on an assist from Deon Travis (Fr., Madison Central/Madison).
Both goals for Jones (8-4, 3-2) came off free kicks. Peyton Ratcliff scored in the 29th minute to give the Bobcats the first lead.
Gulf Coast has lost on set pieces in OT to LSU Eunice (1-0, Aug. 24) and Meridian (2-1, Sept. 10).
The Bulldogs travel to first-place Pearl River on Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Poplarville.
