NJCAA honors Moerck with Player of the Week

PERKINSTON — Another Mississippi Gulf Coast star men's soccer player has added a national award to his resume.

Forward Victor Moerck won NJCAA Player of the Week after scoring five times with two assists in a 2-0 week for the Bulldogs.

The forward from Vaerloese, Denmark, had two goals and an assist in an 8-0 win over Holmes, and he netted a hat trick with another assist in an 11-0 win over East Mississippi. He and teammate Kade Smith are tied for the MACCC goals lead with Jones' Taylor Richardson at 13.

David Ruiz Ospina earned NJCAA Keeper of the Week earlier in the season.

Gulf Coast is back in action Friday when No. 6 Jones visits Bary Thrash Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
