Strong mound performance not enough for Bulldogs

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast got a great performance from its pitching staff Tuesday, but the Bulldogs were beaten by an even better one.

Coastal Alabama-South won 3-1 at Ken "Curly" Farris Field, holding Gulf Coast to three hits.

Eli Waters (So, Petal/Petal) took the hard-luck loss, allowing three runs in six innings. Only two of the runs were earned, and he gave up just five hits.

Walker Seaman (Fr, Grand Bay, Ala./Mobile Christian) threw 1.2 innings of two-hit relief, and Aiden Seymour (So, D'Iberville/D'Iberville) closed it out by allowing one hit while registering the final four outs.

The Coyotes are now 3-5.

The Bulldogs' doubleheader scheduled for Wednesday at Reid State has been postponed. A makeup date will be announced later.

Gulf Coast (6-2) will entertain Northwest Florida State in a three-game series this weekend. The teams will play a single nine-inning game Friday at 5 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader starts at noon.
