Red-hot shooting lifts MGCCC to 21-point win

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast made nearly half its 3-point attempts against Mississippi Delta on the way to a 104-83 win at Dantzler Arena.

The Bulldogs (11-6, 3-2 MACCC) made 22-of-46 from behind the arc, shooting an even 50 percent from the field.

"They went in tonight, and it's contagious. You make a couple, and that's how we've been all year. Kaue was really good tonight. He was able to regain some his confidence."

Kaue Kalinowski (Fr., Curitiba Brazil/Divine Savior) and John Davis (So., Pascagoula/Pascagoula) both made 4-of-6 from the arc, finishing with 16 and 17 points, respectively. Jabbari Barry (Fr., Lake Charles La./Barbe) made five 3's of his own on the way to a game-high 19.

Omarion Smith (So., Atlanta Ga./Douglas County) had 15 points and tied with Javeon Gordon (So., Mount Olive/Mount Olive) for the team lead in rebounds.

Delta (8-9, 2-2) made just 2-of-9 3-point attempts, losing by 21 despite shooting better from the floor (52.9 percent).

The Trojans looked like they might run away from the Bulldogs midway through the first half. They ripped off a 17-3 run to go up 29-20 with 8:58 left. Demarius Coleman (So., Gulfport/Harrison Central) came in off the bench and made three huge 3-pointers in an 18-3 run to respond.

"He made some big shots," Miller said. "They were good shots, and he's capable of making those. Our bench played really good. We had a lot of guys contribute."

The Bulldogs got 30 points off the bench, including Coleman's 12 and Kalinowski's contribution.

Gulf Coast travels to play Northeast Mississippi on Monday. Tipoff in Booneville is set for 7:30 p.m., with the game being streamed on https://nemcctv.com/blackchannel/.
