Three members of No. 17 Mississippi Gulf Coast's outstanding freshman class combined for 53 points to lead the Bulldogs to their fourth win in as many games Thursday night.
Gulf Coast held on to beat Chattahoochee Valley 65-61 at the Pearl River Classic in Poplarville.
Dekyra Mitchell (Fr., Durant/Holmes County) poured in 26 points, including 15 from behind the 3-point arc. Katelyn Brinkley (Fr., Ridgeland/Ridgeland) added 14 points off the bench, and Taelar Felton (Fr., Clinton/Clinton) made three treys on the way to 13 points.
Gulf Coast will be back in action Friday afternoon in Day 2 of the event in Poplarville. The Bulldogs will play Mineral Area at 3 p.m. The game will be streamed at https://prccmedia.com/gold/.
