Defending champs start season Nov. 8

PERKINSTON — The defending MACCC and Region 23 champion Gulf Coast women's basketball team begins defense of those crowns starting Nov. 8.

The Bulldogs, who are ranked 17th in the preseason NJCAA poll, are hosting the two-day Gulf Coast Classic at Dantzler Arena, playing Enterprise State at 5 p.m. on the first day and Calhoun at 3 p.m. the next.

Gulf Coast has been picked by the MACCC coaches to repeat as conference champion. The Bulldogs play 13 games at home and 14 road or neutral-side contests.

Their MACCC opener will be played at Perk on Jan. 13 when East Mississippi visits. All conference games will be part of a doubleheader with the women's game starting at 5:30 p.m. and the men scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
