Bulldogs rally but fall short

Mississippi Gulf Coast got off to a slow start in its final women's basketball game of 2024, leaving the Bulldogs too much ground to make up in an 89-76 loss to Miami Dade.

Gulf Coast trailed 52-26 at halftime before starting to reel the Sharks back in after the break.

Taelar Felton (Fr., Clinton/Clinton) exploded for 32 points to lead the Bulldogs (6-6). Allison Irby (Fr., Olive Branch/Lewisburg) had 12 points, and Lamarah Cleaves added 11.

Miami Dade improves to 10-4.

Gulf Coast will entertain Chattahoochee Valley on Jan. 11 in its final non-conference game. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. The Bulldogs open MACCC play two days later when they host East Mississippi.
