Bulldogs get revenge on Pirates

Mississippi Gulf Coast avenged a loss to Pensacola State two weeks ago by beating the Pirates 62-53 in their Thanksgiving Classic.

Jacylin Houston (So., Louisville/Louisville) led the Bulldogs with 22 points.

"We defended and rebounded the ball really well tonight," Gulf Coast coach Hope Adams said. "We matched their physicality and stayed the course."

The teams had played 11 days previously at Perkinston, and PSC had cruised to a 67-53 win. The Bulldogs (5-2) broke a two-game losing streak.

"Houston was able to knock down the 3-ball early in the game which gave us some momentum, but overall, it was a great team effort," Adams said. "Katelyn Brinkley really cleaned the glass and had several key blocks."

Gulf Coast will conclude play in Pensacola on Saturday with a 1 p.m. game against No. 2 Northwest Florida State. The game will be streamed at https://piratenetwork.live/watch-live/.
