
Felton, Mitchell earn All-MACCC honors
PERKINSTON — Taelar Felton and Dekyra Mitchell have been named to the All-MACCC women's basketball team.
Felton, a speedy 5-foot-3 guard from Clinton, earned a spot on the First Team. She led the Bulldogs in scoring with 14.2 points per game, sixth best in the MACCC. She grabbed 5.3 rebounds and dished out 3.8 assists while nabbing 2.3 steals per game. Felton handed out the sixth-most helpers and was the seventh-biggest thief in the league.
She was third in the conference with 114 made free throws, and she shot 77.0 percent, which was fourth-best. Felton made 16 of 17 free throws in a 28-point performance to help beat Calhoun 79-74 in November.
Felton scored 20 or more points four times, including a 35-point explosion in a New Year's Eve game against Miami Dade.
Mitchell, a 5-foot-5 guard from Durant, was named to the honorable mention list after averaging 13.0 points. She averaged 3.1 assists and 3.0 rebounds with 2.0 steals.
Her 30.8 percent shooting from behind the arc ranked 11th in the MACCC.
Mitchell scored 20 or more points five times, including a 30-point night in a 71-47 win over Jones.
