Bulldogs eye 1st title since 2000

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast can win its first MACCC title since 2000 Thursday by beating Southwest Mississippi. 

Tipoff in Summit is set for 5:30 p.m. The game will be streamed at https://go.smccbears.tv/.

The Bulldogs are shooting for the sixth conference championship in school history. A win would give them 20 for the first time since this century.

Gulf Coast has already clinched a bye in the NJCAA Region 23 tournament. The Bulldogs start the postseason Monday at Perk against a team to be decided by Saturday's opening round.

Records

  • MGCCC: 19-4/12-1 MACCC, T-1st place in conference
  • Southwest: 20-6/11-2 MACCC, 3rd place in conference

Last Time Out

  • MGCCC beat Northwest 75-50 on Monday at Perk.
  • Southwest beat Meridian 73-57 on Monday at Meridian.

Previous Meeting

On Jan. 9, Gulf Coast beat Southwest 77-55 at Perk. Je'Mya Evans (So., Gulfport/Harrison Central) had 25 points and nine rebounds for the Bulldogs.
